Corecom Consulting joins Candlelighters’ Team 500
Corecom Consulting is pleased to announce that we are now a member of Candlelighters’ Team 500. Candlelighters is a charity that has helped children with cancer and their families in Yorkshire for over 40 years. It created Team 500 in May 2020, working in partnership with local businesses, in response to a sharp decline in fundraising after the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Jonathan Sanderson, Managing Director at Corecom Consulting said:
“I am absolutely delighted that Corecom can support Candlelighters with their incredible work. Team 500 enables us to donate and support children and their families affected by cancer and create lasting change in our community.
“I have lived through cancer personally and know it was a scary time for me and my family. I can only imagine how horrific it must be to go through this with children. I am delighted to be able to be able to help through donating and putting a spotlight on this wonderful charity.”
To reinforce just how important Candlelighters’ role is in supporting local families, one mother of a child diagnosed with cancer said:
“It has been the hardest year of my life, but I would have been in a much darker place if I didn’t have the support of Candlelighters, my family and my friends. You have eased burdens, given a tired parent a well-deserved break, and you have put smiles on ours and every other child’s face.”
Chris Salt, Fundraiser at Candlelighters adds:
“The COVID-19 pandemic is the single biggest threat to our charity and the care that we provide that we have ever witnessed.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Corecom Consulting is supporting us. It means that we can continue to be there for families across Yorkshire facing childhood cancer, providing a range of emotional, practical and financial support, to give families strength to get through a truly awful time.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a particularly detrimental emotional effect on children with cancer and their families, right from the very beginning. Families, already facing unimaginably awful circumstances, have had to deal with extended periods of separation, anxiety and financial hardship. Navigating a global pandemic, whilst caring for a child with cancer, has not become any easier with time.

I have seen the challenges that people with protected characteristics face and I’d like to be a part of the population that is fighting for change. I have personally seen benefits from growing up within a diverse friendship group and around a family from different culture backgrounds. I want to encourage people to celebrate people’s differences and to take the opportunity to learn about others and accept them for who they are just as they would like to be accepted themselves.
